What is Marketing?
What is Marketing? Remember in kindergarten (or preschool), how you were taught to share? Well, my definition of marketing at its most basic is sharing. Sharing your excitement about a product or service or organization. Sharing your belief that what you're excited about will help someone you know. Just like the most basic fact of marketing is the willingness to help, the

is helping others by sharing what you know. Pretty simple, isn't it? How do you share this information and excitement you have? Plenty of ways. There are more types of marketing than I can probably think of (or know about) because new ways are constantly being invented or discovered. Like mobile marketing. Some of the most common forms marketing takes are email marketing, direct mail marketing and networking. Most businesses should be doing all three of these things regularly. But what about social marketing? Viral marketing? Guerilla marketing? Permission marketing? If you feel overwhelmed, don't be surprised. But don't panic either. You don't need to do every kind of marketing ever invented. Just the kinds that help you help others. So if pay per click marketing isn't your thing (or not in your budget), don't worry. There are plenty of other ways (less expensive ways) to market your product, service or organization. Just remember to share. For more information about marketing methods, try these links:
