Web Design Tips to Bring Your Customers Back Again and Again
Do you have websites you visit over and over? Do you know why you like them? Is your website like one of those? These web design tips will help you make your website top of the list, and keep your customers coming back over and over. What is it about the sites you like to use? The ones you tell your friends and family about? Is it the ease of use? The incredible amount of great information? Maybe it's how the site looks. How it "feels", and the tone of the words. Maybe it's a little of all that. Web Design Basics Have you visited websites that make you tear your hair out with their busy graphics (maybe even animated ones) and ads plastered front and center? Pop-ups that won't stop popping up? Do those websites draw you in, or send you running? Okay, you do know a little about good website design then, don't you? Great websites aren't ones that use every gimmick in the book to look flashy. Great websites aren't ones that cram sales pitches down your throat the minute you open the first page. Great websites aren't ones that make it a test of your patience to find the information you really want and need. So what are great websites, then? Great websites are neat, clean, uncluttered. They offer information on a specific topic you're interested in, and make it easy to get to that information. They also make it easy to get back to their homepage, or other pages that have more of the information you're looking for. How do you design a website people want to come back to over and over? That's easy. Keep It Simple. Choose carefully what you put on each page. Don't overload it. If they have to scroll down too far, they may lose patience and leave. Don't plaster your pages with graphics unless your site is about pictures or graphics. Let the words speak for themselves. Don't make your pages about more than one topic. You probably have plenty to say, but each page should have it's own focused idea. If you have related ideas you want to convey, make links from that page to the others that are related. And always make it easy for your customers to get back to your homepage! If they have to retype the URL, or even click the "back" button on your browser, you're going to frustrate your customers. Make sure all your pages link easily to your homepage, or believe me, you won't see people coming back. These web design tips are only the "tip" of the iceberg, so to speak.
