What is Business to Business Marketing?
I do business to business marketing. Every time I approach a potential client, I'm approaching a business that may need my services. That's business to business. Is that what your business does? Or do you sell directly to consumers? For example, if you sell the service of installing underground irrigation, you may sell to businesses, but you likely also sell to homeowners. The homeowners are buying a product (the irrigation system) and service (the installation) from you. That's business to consumer marketing. How are they different? Marketing business to business tends to be more formal, sometimes more technical. Especially if you're selling computer programs to a high tech company. The language of your sales pieces will often be full of more jargon. The look of the pieces may be a lot less colorful, as well. Just the facts and benefits laid out neatly. Business to consumer marketing tends to be informal, more often than not. More like a conversation between friends, than one between business associates. And it more often has pictures of the product and images of the "benefits" that product brings to the customer. So be sure your marketing is geared toward your audience. Or they won't get your message. For more ways to market, check out these links:
